1. Role of Human Unity and Oneness for Our Future

There is an inherent unity among all creations particularly inconscient or half-conscient creations. All our body parts strive to help an affected body part to heal fast in a human body. Nature also believes in establishing unity through its means, we often see the loud cry/disturbance of dogs or crows or monkeys or elephants if someone of their tribe gets injured or dies on the road. Years ago, I visited a scenic spot, I saw a large number of monkeys holding a dead child for 3 days together. We must see the nest creation by birds, pigeons or crows, how fast they bring wooden pieces to create a nest for a pregnant bird. We have to learn from a community of ants: how one ant goes, tells and brings all their friends to the food source first, without thinking of eating the food selfishly. There is a silent bonding among each other in all creations. Even in a plant, there is a bonding, if one tree does not get enough water, other trees channel their roots towards the affected tree to increase the water level in the soil.
Look at us, we the proud stupidly intelligent humans: The word unity has become misnomer or misleading or has gone past its prime for us. Sometimes, it is felt, highly Impossible even to think of unity in this whole world. We feel that better to be in one Group or another group. Countries also think of making groups otherwise war gets started. Recent War on Ukraine-Russia is a shameless example of Human Disunity and Hatred.
If you do not like to be in our Group, we will bomb you.
If you do not take up our religion, we will kill you.
If you do not surrender to our Gods, we will decimate you.
Such list of bizarre and filthy human madness is endless.
Humanity has progressed a lot over thousands of years in terms of science and technology. But in terms of basic human values, it has degenerated beyond the gutter of dinosaurs and scorpions. From Stone age man to the current most advanced mankind, Earth Consciousness is growing every moment. Humanity after many centuries of growth has reached a point of Evolutionary crossroads, known as the Hour of God. At a cross-road or at a Turning point, we have a choice, either we will look forward to marching ahead or looking back to return to the old way of living. At this crossroad of human evolution, all kinds of thoughts, philosophies, religions, and mindsets converge in order to surpass the next level. Only a Spiritual way of living can pull mankind out of this highest confusing state. The choice is on us whether to accept the Divine Decree of Supramental Force through a crashing circumstance or to get confused and rotten within and destroy this beautiful 7th creation of the world because of the mind’s game of treachery with us.
Divine has created this universe and all of us out of His delight. From inconscient stone to semiconscious plant or animal, to a conscious man, the Divine has tried His level best to bring the full delight in the creation out of Love and Oneness. Divine is waiting for the Man to realize the purpose of His creation, to help in the creation of a Divine Kingdom. Unfortunately, Man is yet to realize its full potential, is refusing the call of The Supreme and neglecting the psychic presence within it, and is unfortunately captured and destroyed by the game of half-conscious and divisive Mind, Vital and Physical. Instead of living for the manifestation of the Spirit, they are fighting among themselves in oneupmanship over another, getting more recognition and powerful than others, getting into competitive madness in every field of human life, including even in spirituality. The man has suffered a lot because of his naked ambition for power, money, and wealth over others. In this process of Earth’s evolution, man has utterly failed in fulfilling the Divine Mission. Time is running out for him to realize the importance of Human Unity and Oneness.
Inwardly, every human being on Earth, wants to live in unity, but outwardly, we just do the opposite and fight mercilessly amongst each other because of our little ego, unending desire for money, power, fame, recognition, pride, and arrogance.
Can humanity survive without unity, love, and oneness?
Very very difficult and impossible. It will survive only if it follows the Divine Decree if it accepts the value of Unity spontaneously, otherwise, he might have to accept this value from the Supreme Divine under some crashing circumstances.
Despite man’s folly, The Mother has high hopes from humans:
Man has one leg in animality and the other in humanity. At the same time he is a candidate for divinity.
The Mother: Of course, as soon as you go high enough, there’s a unity, a whole, which is so beautiful and without divisions—“Why do men fight?”
Division created the world, and it is in division that the Eternal manifests.
The moment one’s consciousness changes, all this separation, all this division completely vanishes.
Even the possibility of division no longer existed. It felt like a unity, a unity made of innumerable—billions—bright dots. A single consciousness made of innumerable bright dots conscious of themselves.
Divine is the only Unity
The Divine has many essential modes of His eternal self-manifestation, possesses and finds Himself on many planes and through many poles of His being; to each mode its purpose, to each plane or pole its fulfilment both in the apex and the “supreme scope of the eternal Unity.”

Divine Unity will be the Basis
The Mother: In the supramental creation there will no longer be any religions. The whole life will be the expression, the flowering into forms of the divine Unity manifesting in the world. And there will no longer be what men now call gods.
The Mother: ...my only aim in life is to give a concrete form to Sri Aurobindo’s great teaching and in his teaching he reveals that all the nations are essentially one and meant to express the Divine Unity upon earth through an organised and harmonious diversity.
Divine Unity Present in Individual, Universal and Transcendent Level
Sri Aurobindo:-“The Godhead with whom the soul of man has to enter into this closest oneness, is indeed in his supreme status a transcendent Unthinkable too great for any manifestation, Parbrahman; but he is at the same time the living supreme Soul of all things. He is the supreme Lord, the Master of works and universal nature. He at once exceeds and inhabits as its self the soul and mind and body of the creature. He is Purshottama, Parmeshwara and Paramatman and in all these equal aspects the same single and eternal Godhead.
It is an awakening to this integral reconciling knowledge that is the wide gate to the utter release of the soul and an unimaginable perfection of the nature. It is this Godhead in the unity of all his aspects to whom our works and our adoration and our knowledge have to be directed as a constant inner sacrifice.”

There are two stages. First, you will feel your unity with the other centres of consciousness `in the silence’. It is in the Transcendent that you will feel the identification. Later, you will realise this union even in the manifested activity—in the play of forces—and at that moment the union you speak about is possible.
Unity is the Very Essence of Eternity
Sri Aurobindo: Unity is the eternal truth of things, diversity a play of the unity. The sense of unity has therefore been termed Knowledge, Vidya, the sense of diversity Ignorance, Avidya. But diversity is not false except when it is divorced from the sense of its true and eternal unity.
2. Creating Human Unity from Individual Level to Universal Level
2.1 By Becoming Aware of One Divine Origin
The Mother: Stop thinking that you are of the West and others of the East. All human beings are of the same divine origin and meant to manifest upon earth the unity of this origin.

Man mistakenly feels that he is the creator of another human, he forgets that he is just an instrument of the Divine. He is being used by the Creatrix Divine to act and work for the Divine Kingdom alone, not for their own religious or country’s kingdom. This is the root cause of human disunity.
2.2. Only by Inwardly Becoming Conscious of the Divine
The Mother: Unity does not come from any exterior disposition, but by becoming conscious of the eternal Oneness.
The Mother: All the human reasons that are given for solidarity and mutual love are of little value and also of little effect. Only by becoming conscious of the Divine and uniting with Him can one attain and realise true unity.

Q. What is the right way of achieving lasting world unity?
To realise the Consciousness of the ONE.
The Mother (CWM-15, p. 61)
“In regard to the earth, the means of achieving this aim is the realisation of human unity by the awakening in all and the manifestation by all of the inner Divinity who is one. In other words: to create unity by establishing the kingdom of God which is in all.
Hence, the most useful work to be done is:
1) For everyone individually the becoming aware in oneself of the divine Presence and one’s identification with it.”
Yes, you do not understand? I have said it fifty thousand times already, haven’t I? ... Ah, you understand now? (Laughter)
“2) The individualisation of states of being which have so far never been conscious in man and, consequently, putting the earth into touch with one or several sources of universal force which are yet sealed to it.”
“The individualisation of states of being which have so far never been onscious in man”, that is to say, there are superposed states of consciousness, and there are new regions which have never yet been manifested on earth, and which Sri Aurobindo called supramental. It is that, this was the same idea. That is, one must go into the depths or the heights of creation which have never been manifested upon earth, and become conscious of that, and manifest it on earth. Sri Aurobindo called it the Supermind. I simply say these are states of being which were never yet conscious in man (that is, that man has so far never been aware of them). One must get identified with them, then bring them into the outer consciousness, and manifest them in action.
And then, I add (exactly what I foresaw—I did not know that Sri Aurobindo would do it, but still I foresaw that this had to be done):
“3) To speak to the world, under a new form adapted to the present state of its mentality, the eternal word.”
That is, the supreme Truth, Harmony. It was the whole programme of what Sri Aurobindo has done, and the method of doing the work on earth, and I had foreseen this in 1912. I met Sri Aurobindo for the first time in 1914, that is, two years later, and I had already made the whole programme.

2.3 By Changing Ourselves First, instead of Advising Others
The Mother: Change yourself if you wish to change the world. Prove by your inner transformation that a truth- consciousness can take possession of the material world and that the Divine Unity can be manifested upon earth.
Organisations, however vat and complete they may be, can achieve nothing permanent unless a new force, more divine and all- powerful, express itself through a perfected human instrument.

2.4 Through Love and Oneness
The Mother: Immortality, unity and freedom are in ourselves and await there our discovery; but for the joy of love God in us will still remain the Many.
Q. How can the general atmosphere of humanity affect the Sadhana of the individual or the group?
Sri Aurobindo: You see all sorts of things come to you from the universal; that is, from the general atmosphere of humanity– thoughts and ideas in the mind, impulses; etc. in the vital being and so on. It is for this reason that a Sadhaka has to isolate himself from the general atmosphere and create his; own fort where; these things cannot come in easily.
The atmosphere is dislocated. We have come supposedly to preach unity to the world, it would be only decent to do it ourselves!
The slightest contradiction that enters the atmosphere causes me such discomfort...
It is like a negation, a painful negation. Which really makes me feel an acute pain.
2.5 Through Spiritual Education
Q. What is the way of making the consciousness of human unity grow in man?
Ans: Spiritual education, that is to say an education which gives more importance to the growth of the spirit than to any religious or moral teaching or to the material so-called knowledge.

2.6 Through the Creation of Auroville Model in Every Country
The Mother: Auroville wants to be the first realisation of human unity based on the teaching of Sri Aurobindo, where men of all countries would be at home. - January 1972

Are invited to Auroville all those who thirst for progress and aspire to a higher and truer life.

Auroville Charter
1) Auroville belongs to nobody in particular. Auroville belongs to humanity as a whole. But to live in Auroville one must be the willing servitor of the Divine Consciousness.
2) Auroville will be the place of an unending education, of constant progress, and a youth that never ages.
3) Auroville wants to be the bridge between the past and the future.
Taking advantage of all discoveries from without and from within, Auroville will boldly spring towards future realisations.

Earth needs
a place where men can live away from all national rivalries, social conventions,
self-contradictory moralities and contending religions;
a place where human beings, freed from all slavery to the past, can devote
themselves wholly to the discovery and practice of the Divine Consciousness
that is seeking to manifest.

The Mother: You say that Auroville is a dream. Yes, it is a “dream” of the Lord and generally these “dreams” turn out to be true — much more true than the human so-called realities!

What is the fundamental difference between the ideal of the Ashram and the ideal of Auroville?
The Mother: There is no fundamental difference in the attitude towards the future and the service of the Divine.
But the people in the Ashram are considered to have consecrated their lives to Yoga (except, of course, the students who are here only for their studies and who are not expected to have made their choice in life).
Whereas in Auroville simply the goodwill to make a collective experiment for the progress of humanity is sufficient to gain admittance.

The first condition for an Aurovilian
The Mother: The first condition for living in Auroville is to be convinced of the essential unity of mankind and the will to collaborate in the material realisation of that unity. I believe in a progressive universal harmony and want to work for it.
2.7 Through Pathachakra/ Study Circles to spread Sri Aurobindo
The Mother:
“3) To speak to the world, under a new form adapted to the present state of its mentality, the eternal word.”
That is, the supreme Truth, Harmony. It was the whole programme of what Sri Aurobindo has done, and the method of doing the work on earth, and I had foreseen this in 1912. I met Sri Aurobindo for the first time in 1914, that is, two years later, and I had already made the whole programme.

The Mother: It is necessary to spread our literature because it spreads the new thought. Some men may receive it correctly and some incorrectly. A movement is set up on the universal mental plane. So also in social work the whole frame is shaken by the new thought and in as much as it moves men out of the old groove it is useful. But we have to act from the inner motives.

What is the most useful idea to spread and what is the best example to set? 25 June 1912
The Mother: The question can be considered in two ways, a very general one applicable to the whole earth, and another specific one which concerns our present social environment.
From the general point of view, it seems to me that the most useful idea to spread is twofold:
1) Man carries within himself perfect power, perfect wisdom and perfect knowledge, and if he wants to possess them, he must discover them in the depth of his being, by introspection and concentration.
2) These divine qualities are identical at the centre, at the heart of all beings; this implies the essential unity of all, and all the consequences of solidarity and fraternity that follow from it.
The best example to give would be the unalloyed serenity and immutably peaceful happiness which belong to one who knows how to live integrally this thought of the One God in all.
From the point of view of our present environment, here is the idea which, it seems to me, it is most useful to spread:
True progressive evolution, an evolution which can lead man to his rightful happiness, does not lie in any external means, material improvement or social change. Only a deep and inner process of individual self-perfection can make for real progress and completely transform the present state of things, and change suffering and misery into a serene and lasting contentment.
Consequently, the best example is one that shows the first stage of individual self-perfection which makes possible all the rest, the first victory to be won over the egoistic personality: disinterestedness.[p.69]
At a time when all rush upon money as the means to satisfy their innumerable cravings, one who reffnt lto wealth ahe se of gain, but solely to follow a disinterested ideal, is probably setting the example which is most useful at present. [p.70]

2.8 By Getting Rid of All Divisions Among Humanity
The Mother : The true freedom is to be free from desire.
The true independence is to be independent from passion.
The true mastery is to be master of oneself.
That alone is the key to happiness; all the rest is passing illusion.
It is not in division but in unity that can be found the solution of human problems and the remedy to human miseries.

2.9 By Establishing a Greater Sense of Unity
The Mother:...men—nations and men—should stop distrusting and fearing each other, and should live in the sense of unity. If the sense of unity were re-established, the miseries would disappear....for the sense of unity with all beings, the stress of a universal love and compassion, the will to spend the energies for the good of all creatures, are central to the dynamic outflowering of the spirit.
Auroville should become a more homogeneous community with a greater sense of unity.
2.10 Through the Help of an International University:
The Mother: For collective progress and individual progress are interdependent. Before the individual can take a leap forward, at least a little of the preceding progress must have been realised in the collectivity. A way must therefore be found so that these two types of progress may proceed side by side. It is in answer to this urgent need that Sri Aurobindo conceived the scheme of his international university, in order to prepare the human ´elite who will be able to work for the progressive unification of mankind and be ready at the same time to embody the new force which is descending to transform the earth. A few broad ideas will serve as a basis for the organisation of this university centre and will govern its programme of studies. Most of them have already been presented in the various writings of Sri Aurobindo and in the series of articles on education in this Bulletin.
The most important idea is that the unity of the human race can be achieved neither by uniformity nor by domination and subjection. Only a synthetic organisation of all nations, each one occupying its true place according to its own genius and the part it has to play in the whole, can bring about a comprehensive and progressive unification which has any chance of enduring.
And if this synthesis is to be a living one, the grouping should be effectuated around a central idea that is as wide and as high as possible, in which all tendencies, even the most contradictory, may find their respective places. This higher idea is to give men the conditions of life they need in order to be able to prepare themselves to manifest the new force that will create the race of tomorrow. All impulsions of rivalry, all struggle for precedence and domination must disappear and give way to a will for harmonious organisation, for clear-sighted and effective collaboration.
2.11 By the Help of Liberated Soul
Sri Aurobindo: "... the liberated soul extends its perception of unity horizontally as well as vertically. Its unity with the transcendent One is incomplete without its unity with the cosmic Many. And that lateral unity translates itself by a multiplication, a reproduction of its own liberated state at other points in the Multiplicity. The divine soul reproduces itself in similar liberated souls as the animal reproduces itself in similar bodies.
Therefore, whenever even a single soul is liberated, there is a tendency to an extension and even to an outburst of the same divine self-consciousness in other individual souls of our terrestrial humanity and, — who knows? — perhaps even beyond the terrestrial consciousness. Where shall we fix the limit of that extension? Is it altogether a legend which says of the Buddha that as he stood on the threshold of Nirvana, of the Non-Being, his soul turned back and took the vow never to make the irrevocable crossing so long as there was a single being upon earth undelivered from the knot of the suffering, from the bondage of the ego?"

2.12 By Feeling the Intense Power of Supramental Love
Power of Supramental Love: The supramental love means an intense unity of soul with soul, mind with mind, life with life, and an entire flooding of the body consciousness with the physical experience of oneness, the presence of the Beloved in every part, in every cell of the body.
2.13 By Believing and Working for the New World
The unity of humanity is an underlying and existing fact. But the external union of mankind depends on man’s goodwill and sincerity. It is the unity of all in the solidarity of a common manifestation that will allow the creation of the new and divine world upon the Earth. Each will bring his part, but no part will be complete except as a power in the solidarity of the whole.
2.14 By Becoming True Indians and True World Citizens
The Mother: India today is free but she has not achieved unity.
India is free but she has not achieved unity, only a fissured and broken freedom. At one time it almost seemed as if she might relapse into the chaos of separate States which preceded the British conquest. Fortunately there has now developed a strong possibility that this disastrous relapse will be avoided.
Q. The language problem harasses India a good deal. What would be our correct attitude in this matter?
The Mother: Unity must be a living fact and not the imposition of an arbitrary rule. When India will be one, she will have spontaneously a language understood by all.
The World is a unity—it has always been, and it is always so, even now it is so—it is not that it has not got the unity and the unity has to be brought in from outside and imposed upon it. Only the world is not conscious of its unity. It has to be made conscious.
We consider now is the time most propitious for the endeavor. For, a new Force or Consciousness or Light—whatever you call the new element—has manifested into the world and the world has now the capacity to become conscious of its own unity.
2.15 By Aspiring for and Creating a World Organisation
The Mother: The unity of all the nations is the compelling future of the world. But for the unity of all nations to be possible, each nation must first realise its own unity.
The Mother: A world Organisation will replace the current system of governance. Only people with world consciousness and global unity will rule the world.
We need a world organisation. But by whom? It should be by people who have at least a world consciousness! All human organisations are based on: the visible fact (which is a falsehood), public opinion (another falsehood), and moral sense, which is a third falsehood! So...
Only the world is not conscious of its unity. It has to be made conscious. We consider now is the time most propitious for the endeavour. For, a new Force or Consciousness or Light— whatever you call the new element—has manifested into the world and the world has now the capacity to become conscious of its own unity.
Our ideal of patriotism proceeds on the basis of love and brotherhood and it looks beyond the unity of the nation and envisages the ultimate unity of mankind. But it is a unity of brothers, equals and freemen that we seek, not the unity of master and serf, of devourer and devoured.
2.16 By Participating Actively in This Hour of God
The Mother: There is no one for whom it is impossible to realize the Divine.
Only for some it will take many many lives, where as there are others who will do it in this very life time. It is a question of will. It is for you to choose. But I must say that at the present moment conditions are particularly favourable.
Essential Conditions: From the psychological point of view, the essential conditions are:
1) Being convinced of the essential human unity and having the will to collaborate in the advent of this unity.
2) The will to collaborate in all that furthers future realizations. Then, from the material point of view: The material conditions will be worked out as the realization progresses.
2.17 By Transforming the Way of Diplomacy
The Mother: If diplomacy could become the instrument of the Truth and the Divine Grace, instead of being based on duplicity and falsehood, a big step would be taken towards human unity and harmony.
